Insanely connected
PHX to SEA, no WiFi, aisle seat. Thank goodness for downloaded playlists and the chance to clean up my photo folder. Who else can relate? It’s wild to think about the time before WiFi—even before smartphones. We run a tech company focused on the future of what websites can be, yet I find myself feeling nostalgic for those pre-connected days.
We’re left with memories as music plays the soundtrack to our lives, capturing years lived and moments missed. Books are still tangible, and a Gameboy can still keep you entertained on a flight with no connectivity—even this short essay, written in the Notes app, is a reminder of how we're "disconnected" yet still very much connected.
Despite it all, I still believe there's no better time to be alive than right now, at this exact moment. We’re at the intersection of so much growth, both literal and figurative.
We can message friends anywhere, anytime. We can share our passions and hobbies with the world and, with some luck, turn them into full-time gigs. We can share ideas with one person—or a billion—all within milliseconds from a device in our hands.
Now, if only I could connect to WiFi...
